Temporarily Homeless Pregnant Brenda Moves Back to Home to Florida

Temporarily Homeless Pregnant Brenda Moves Back to Home to Florida

Tonight we cut the hair for the homeless (read more here) and then served them food. But tonight we met up with our homeless friends Stacey and his pregnant wife, Brenda.

“Stacey shared that he will never forget the Streets of Hope San Diego and the way we have loved him and his wife. “

We met Brenda and Stacey about a month and a half ago. They shared that they were new to the streets after Stacey’s mothers’ funeral brought them to San Diego from Florida. Unfortunately, they did not have enough money for the trip back so Stacey, Brenda, and their soon to be baby have been stuck on the streets waiting for their government check. The very first night we met them back in May, The Streets of Hope San Diego collected donations and bought our new friends a tent so they could stay safe and protected for the remainder of the month (read more of that story here).

Homeless Stacey and Brenda Are Part of the Streets of Hope Family

Every week since, we have sat and shared stories, prayer, and encouragement with our dear friends. Stacey and Brenda have even played a key role in our recent ministry events through volunteering. Katelyn and Anne have especially been blessed by their connection with Brenda and Stacey.

Tonight we said goodbye as they plan to head back to Florida this next week when a check they are expecting comes in this week. Through tears, Stacey shared that he will never forget the Streets of Hope San Diego and the way we have loved him and his wife. He said, “A lot of places and groups around here don’t let you in because you don’t fit the part, or aren’t’ part of the family. But you guys, you take us all in, no questions asked, and that kind of love, it changes people.” Brenda turned and asked Katelyn and I if she could name her baby Anne Katelyn after the two of us. We were honored and said yes!!

The love of Jesus is powerful and can bring people of such different walks of life into rich community. It has been a beautiful time of community with these friends and we hope to stay in touch!
