The Streets of Hope San Diego thanks San Diego State University’s Air Force ROTC for serving San Diego’s homeless this Monday night by passing out food, clothes and even a tent.

“We were all so moved by how grateful everyone was… “

We asked someone in the group to volunteer to write a little bit about their experience and Johanna K. C/1st Lt, AFROTC wrote:

“We are from the Air Force ROTC Program at San Diego State University. AFROTC is a program that develops future Air Force officers and the leaders of the future. Before Covid-19, we used to volunteer monthly to support the community. Now that the situation is settling down, our program plans to help out weekly. We were all so moved by how grateful everyone was despite our shortcomings.”

Thanks Johanna and the rest of the ROTC volunteers for joining us and making a great evening serving the homeless with us.

We appreciated the all the future Air Force leaders who brought a great energy and zeal to the evening. We look forward to seeing you again soon and appreciate all you do in the community. 

Finally, at the end of the evening, we had a homeless man named Jarvis who the week prior we were able to give him a tent and a sleeping bag; however, he had both items stolen. In tears he asked us if we can help him out again. Special thanks to Matt and the Mission Trails Church team who had an extra tent from the prior week. We were able to give Jarvis his new tent.
